Mood:  happy
Topic: Internet

A free and open source CMS (Content Management System), Joomla, is used for publishing content on the internet and intranets. Joomla is also a MVC (Model View Controller) web application framework which can be used independently if required.

Joomla uses object oriented programming techniques and is written in PHP. It stores data in MySQL or MS SQL database. Features like caching, RSS feeds, news flashes, blogs, polls, search and language internationalization are available in Joomla since early days. Now the new version of this advanced CMS is out: Joomla 3.0.

The words like Bootstrap, responsive design have been cropping up the radar for this new version since its release date was announced. After it has been released in September there are many credible features which are worth mentioning and which will make developers work very easy. Web development in India which is very advanced has already started using the new Joomla 3.0 for developing the website and its applications.

The new installer of Joomla 3.0 is very simple and short in usage. There are just 3 steps following which the whole Joomla 3.0 package can be installed.

Bootstrap

Bootstrap, a collection of tools for creation of websites and web applications. It is a HTML, CSS, JavaScript framework using which templates can be made which give extra-ordinary user interface. These templates are prepared for typography, forms, buttons, charts and other interface components.

It also provides basic common CSS for the developers who can use elements of common user interface like buttons, layouts, alert messages, modal boxes, tooltips, tables and much more from Bootsrap framework. This allows developers to focus on functioning of the application developed. The template developers can focus on developing the templates which can work on various platforms without any modification.

The Bootstrap framework is based on the jQuery Javascript framework. Using this results in HTML markups for the core extensions changing as well. Thus templates written in 2.5 version of Joomla requires some modifications with 3.0.

User Experience

As this version is based on Bootstrap this Joomla 3.0 has friendly user experience. Because of being such user friendly usability the template and extension which are built by developers can be based on the same set of markup standards. Controlling the website would be much easier when all extensions work in the same fashion.

Mobile Responsive Design

Till date the responsive feature was available in Joomla templates. However now Joomla 3.0 also has this feature. Using the responsive design one can control the Joomla site from mobile devices easily. This feature resizes the screen according to the browser in which it is opened. Being responsive also presented it quite beautifully in front-end as well as back-end. Thus site admin can easily manage the site through mobile with ease.

Drag & Drop functionality

The drag and drop feature is made available in this latest version of Joomla. The arrows which were present earlier on the ordering column are no longer existing and instead one can drag and drop items freely in the categories to change the order of the item list.

Other features are also present in this version which will help developers. Joomla development in India has already shifted to the newer version and the developers who reviewed all the new and updated features in Joomla are really awestruck with the experience.

Conclusion

Thus Joomla 3.0 has come up with new improved features which makes the work of developers easier and also advanced application can be developed. It is now upto developers how they take advantage of all these features
